Keep the quilt dry. Good air circulation helps to increase the chance for your quilt to staying fresh and dry air. Dampness or humid environment can cause moulds in the air to deposit moisture within the quit fabric that eventually results fibre degrade and damage of your quilt.
Wrap your quilt within moisture resistant sleeves. Never store quilt in a plastic container where air circulation is a problem as this may cause moisture build up, even when least expected. Useful solution may include wrapping your quilt with a cotton based material to protect against dust and moisture seepages.
Avoid temperature Extremes. High temperature is as dangerous as low freezing conditions and therefore, it is worthwhile to avoid these extremes. Always try and store your quilts in temperature conditions with moderate variations to avoid materia stress and deterioration due to excess heat or cold climates.
Avoid bugs and mice! Accessible locations sometimes invite unwelcoming characters like mice and bugs, so take care to ensure the environment chosen is fit for purpose. Most rodents love to use cardboard boxes and paper debris for building nests and suitable living quarters, so be mindful of this when storing away your quilt safely.
